Abstract
The research aimed to assess the implementation of School Disaster Risk Reduction Management of Selected Elementary School in the Division of Quezon City.
Specifically, it answered the questions on how the school heads and SDRRM coordinators assess and find the hindering factors in the implementation of School Disaster Risk Reduction Management Program (SDRRMP) of Selected Elementary Schools in the Division of Quezon City and the mechanism to be developed to further improve the program. The study employed the Descriptive Research Method since it is the most appropriate method to determine the status of implementation in terms of objectives, resources, budgetary requirements and hindering factors which served as the basis for the assessment through the use of survey questionnaires.
Cognizant to the findings, it is highly noted that the assessment of the School Heads and the SDRRM Coordinators on the implementation of the SDRMP is Very Good. The only challenge in the implementation of School Disaster Risk Reduction Management as reflected on the gathered data is the insufficiency of funds.
Futhermore, the researcher concluded that the objectives of the program were fully realized, School Heads and the SDRRM Coordinators had a wide knowledge, background and full understanding on the most innovative trends and updates on the different School Disaster Risk Reduction policies since the conducted assessment was Very Good.
As to the recommendations, the School Head should initiate a certain disaster-related training program to upgrade one's knowledge and skills to ensure the best performance in the discharge of duties. Furthermore, School Head and SDRRM Coordinators must solicit financial assistance from the LGU, alumni, NGO's and other stakeholders toward the solution of the insufficiency of funds in the implementation of the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Program.
