Abstract
To describe the level of readiness in disaster preparedness and response of the Quezon City schools near West Valley fault line is the objective of this study. The results became the basis in producing an infographic covering the three phases of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management: Before, During and After. The descriptive research method using a researcher-made questionnaire was meant for a sample size of 461 respondents. This study found out that the female respondents dominated and that ESP teachers are on top. VERY MUCH READY was yielded from the Before, During and After Disasters Data. Significant difference was found in the During-Disasters phase where female respondents' mean is lower; and in the Before-Disasters phase where Filipino and MAPEH teachers had the higher mean rank. On grade level profile there are significant differences in all phases where the grade school group's mean is higher than that of the high school group. The researcher concluded that the respondents' sex and subject area taught do not affect readiness level, and that their level of readiness is VERY MUCH READY. However, they have capacity training needs in hazard mapping, fire suppressing , relief status reporting, response impact assessment and alternative learning materials production. The researcher recommended: to include close-to-reality simulation drills; to use fire extinguishers nearing expiration in hands-on training; to do impact assessment, alternative learning materials preparation, Gender and Development Mainstreaming, hazard mapping, learning assessment, Go-Bag building; and emergency communication protocols.
