Abstract
The study investigated the different factors that contributed to students' absenteeism and truancy. The researcher developed the Students' Absenteeism and Truancy Factors Survey Questionnaire (SATFSQ) with the following predictors a) domesticated-related factors, b) individual-related factors, c) school-related factors, d) financial-related factors and e) geographic/environmental factors. The participants of the study were the selected senior high school students who answered the questionnaire through Google Form. Specifically, the participants were asked to choose the level of agreement on a particular statement assigned on each predictor which is illustrated in a five-point Likert scale. Thus, 5 Strongly Agree, 4Agree, 3, Neutral, 2 Disagree, and 1 Strongly Disagree. It is revealed that the students agreed on parents' attitude towards schooling and family responsibilities/the need to work on the domesticated-related factors. Students also agreed that behavioral and lack of sleep contributed to the individual-related factors, teacher factor, quality/clarity of lectures, teaching the skill of the teacher, physical condition of the classroom, number of students in class, and need to attend extracurricular/personal activities and students are neutral on the financial-related factors. Lastly, students agreed that distance between home and school contributed to students' absenteeism and truancy. Significantly, the result of the study is vital for the teachers in designing an intervention to address to improve student's attendance and learning outcomes in school.
