Abstract
The department of Education (DepEd) mandated all elementary and secondary public schools to strengthen the support for the learning standards in Early language, literacy and Numeracy Instruction (ELLN) particularly in reading. Generally, the "Every child a Reader Program" (ECARP) designed to furnish learners in their grade level with reading skills that make them proficient and independent readers (Sadongdong and Colina, 2019). This means that teachers need to be creative and equipped enough to utilize different ways strategies. to teach the learners in reading specially at the very young age.
This study was conducted to asses the reading performance of Grade three pupils of Payatas B Elementary School, in the school Year 2020-2021. This study is a descriptive research. Descriptive research aims to describe a population, situation, or phenomenon accurately and systematically. (McCombes, 2020).
In the analysis of the gathered data in the problem, the researcher made use of the weighted mean, standard deviation, and t-test. based on the result, there was a significant difference between the reading performance of non-readers and struggling readers during the Pre- test compared to that of the Past-test after using the P.U.S.H. worksheets with parental involvement in terms of reading word, phrase, and sentence. The degree of freedom 148 having a critical value of -3.9651 using 0.05 level of significance made the hypothesis accepted for reading level in non-reader, word reader, phrase reader and rejected for sentence reader. After completing this research, the P.U.S.H worksheet with parental involvement found effective. Based on the findings, there was an improvement of reading performance of grade three pupils
