Abstract
The Senior High School of Ismael Mathay Sr. High School adopted the distance
learning delivery under the Online Distance Learning. This modality is applicable to learners
and teachers with technology devices in which internet connectivity is required. Under this
modality, the students learn asynchronously. The purpose of the study is to find out what do
students do during asynchronous class and what challenges do they encounter?
With 49 respondents, 40 females and 9 males from ABMG11A and ABMG11B, the
respondents answered a self-made questionnaire which made use of Google Form as the platform. The study made use of descriptive survey method. In terms of what activities the respondents do asynchronously, most of the students agreed on all of the parameters including answering test materials and modules including watching You Tube which are related to their work. However, the students find difficulty in working with groups. Further concerns related to internet connectivity, running errands and doing household chores, and noisy environment are some of the perceived challenges and difficulties of the respondents. The researcher thinks that for a student to thrive asynchronously, a student should maintain a good internet connection and also the skills necessary to thrive in an on line class.
