Abstract
Check and Connect Program (CCP) was used as an intervention to reduce the risk of pupils from dropping out of school. The purpose of this action research was to minimize the risk of pupils from dropping out of school. Through this intervention , the 8 of the 261 Grade IV pupils of San Jose Elementary School S.Y. 2018 - 2019 who are perennially absent were closely monitored. The teacher-advisers monitored the participants daily, able to talk face to face with guardian or the parents and were able to inform them of the real status of their child inside the classroom. Scheduled home visitation and interview of the participants together with their parents were performed. Right after home visitation , Check and Connect Program was implemented. During implementation proper, the participants were monitored (see Monitoring Sheet, Appendix A) on a daily basis by the Monitor which is the teacher-advisers themselves. This intervention was proven effective since the checking and connecting activity extends real time talk with parents and pupils' concerned. The teacher and parents were able to address the problem and talk heart to heart with the participants. This intervention built strong relationship between teacher and the participants together with their parents. Currently, out of 8 pupils who irregularly came to school, 5 of them are now attending classes regularly. Thus, the percentage of attendance was increased.
