Abstract
The problem-solving maps were introduced and developed by Dr. Danilo Sirais in 2017. It is a method that uses maps or diagrams to simplify mathematical concepts. Same with the researcher, his main reason is to help the students to develop generic processes that could apply to most topics needed to learn. The purpose of this action research is to determine the mathematics aptitude of grade 7 students of Sauyo High School through problem-solving maps. Specifically, this study seeks to answer the following research question: What is the level of mathematics aptitude of the grade 7 students before and after the use of problem-solving maps in Mathematics? Lastly, how effective are problem-solving maps in improving the mathematics aptitude of grade 7 students?
Results and conclusions show that most grade 7 students' mathematics aptitude did not meet the expectation before the utilization of problem-solving maps. Teachers should think of strategies to be able to improve mathematics aptitude, especially this time that the students are having a hard time adjusting to the new normal. After the utilization of problem-solving maps, most of grade 7 students' mathematics aptitude improved from fairly satisfactory level to very satisfactory. Some students were even categorized under the outstanding aptitude level. There exists a significant difference between the mathematics aptitude before and after the implementation of problem-solving maps. The problem- solving maps improved the mathematics aptitude of grade 7 students.
