Abstract
Aside from the problem in the development of reading skills among t learners the gap in numeracy skills has also been one of the focuses for development of Maligaya Elementary School for years. To further minimize the numbers of pupils with difficulty in developing numeracy skills, the researchers introduced Project Mathinik si Nanay as an assisting project incorporating the needs of developing numeracy skills during pandemic through parental
support specifically among grade 2 pupils.
Particularly this study identified the effectiveness of the program in bridging the learning gaps in Mathematics. This study utilized a combination of quantitative research methods. The collection of the data on the effectiveness of the intervention was through google form with a link disseminated to every respondent. The data was automatically saved on the Google sheet, collected, and tabulated by the researchers to show the result. After the various steps in preparation and treatment of the collected data, this study came up with the following discoveries. First, the selected pupils were rated with No Numerical Comprehension before the Program Mathinik si Nanay was implemented. The results of data also show that after the implementation of the program Mathinik si Nanay generally was very effective for the learners that proves the statement of Seginer 2006 that Parental Involvement namely parent's engagement in their children's education is variety of behaviors that parents perform to promote their children's academic achievement and psychological development in their homes and schools. Moreover, the program can be helpful if parents continue to apply the concept of Mathinik si Nanay not just in teaching Mathematics but also in other subjects. With this, the researcher recommends the parents and guardians to apply and still use the concept even in the presence of face-to-face classes. The researchers would also propose a schoolwide orientation or seminar that will cater every parent in every grade level for them to be aware on the importance of parental support in bridging the gaps among the learners due to pandemic as this research proves the effectivity of the concept brought by the program Mathinik si Nanay. Keywords: Effectiveness, Bridging, Numeracy, Mathematics, Gap, Parental Support.
