Abstract
Children learn best when they are intellectually active and physically involved in teaching-learning activity. The teacher should prepare teaching-learning materials that could help best learners to learn.

This action research is aimed to develop word games that will help improve the vocabulary of Grade VI learners in English. The word games utilized vocabularies from selected topics in Third Quarter. the instructional material was administered to selected groups while other groups were not given intervention.

This study employed descriptive survey and quasi-experimental methods as the major instruments in gathering the needed and information . A validated research-made questionnaire was used as basis to obtain the needed to draw interferences. The questionnaire used Likert scale to determine the responses of experts and teacher-evaluators to determine the validity of the instructional material.

The result of validation showed that the set of word games is acceptable in terms of variables of the study such as chosen words, difficulty, and attractiveness.

The sample groups of students who were utilized in the try-out generally performed satisfactory in their posttest. This showed that significant difference exists between the academic performance of students in their pretest and posttest revealing that the innovated instructional material of word games makes pupils improved their English vocabulary.

It is recommended that the "Word Games" be endorsed and be adopted as a supplementary instructional material for Grade VI learners to increase the learners' vocabularies . A committee may even be formed to evaluate the " Word Games" so that it may be adopted for use in other schools.
