Abstract
Due to the rising cases of COVID-19, Philippines has shifted from face-to-face classes to distance learning. To ensure that education must continue, the Department of Education implemented different learning platforms such as Modular Learning, Online learning, and TV-based instruction. However, these platforms cannot be easily accessed by other students due to internet connectivity problems, lack of gadgets, and the scarcity of modules. As a solution, the Department of Education has implemented DepEd TV, a TV-based instruction platforms. In line with this, this study determined the effectiveness of TV-Based Instruction (DepEd TV) in strengthening the learning span of grade 2 from Toro Hills Elementary School during distance learning. The study utilized a quantitative approach and distributed a quantitative questionnaire. The questionnaire utilized indicators from related literatures and a Likert scale.
The respondents were chosen through non-probability convenience sampling. After the researcher gathered the data, the results were analyzed through descriptive statistics. Based on the answers of the respondents, most indicators obtained a high mean (4.85,4.79, and 4.82),which is close to the highest score or to most effective. This shows that all students believe tha tDepEd TV is effective and helpful for them. The standard deviation is also low, which means the students share the same satisfaction towards DepEd TV. The general weighted mean is 4.82, which is close to the highest score or to most effective. Supported with data, the researcher concluded that TV-Based Instruction is an effective tool for strengthening students'learning span of Grade 2 learners in distance learning.
