Abstract
This study was a intended to develop and comprehension skills through the use of science Reading Module Guides (SRMGs) among selected Grade 8 students of San Bartolome High School. There were thirty (30) participants from Grade 8 Science, Technology and Engineering Program (STEP) of the school year 2019-2020. Only the third and fourth quarter topics are included : Recombinant DNA Technology : Plasmid Technology , Transgenics , Protoplast Fusion cell Fusion, Hybridomas, cloning; Environmental Concerns, Ethical Issues in Biotechnology.

The pre-test and post test result of the control and experimental group was used to determine whether SRMGs aid in the improvement of the reading and comprehension of the students.

The two-tailed t-test for dependent sample was used to determine the significant difference between the pre-test and post-test mean scores of the control and experimental groups. On the other hand , the two-tailed t-test for independent sample was used determine the significant difference in the post test-post test mean scores of the two groups.

Based on the result of the study SRMGs improve the reading and comprehension of the students.

The data can benchmark the need for modification in teaching strategies and approaches , science curricula and model of assessments that teachers currently use.
