Abstract
The study aims to identify the effectiveness of ABL Strategy in increasing active involvement and assess the level of familiarity of grade 8 students on WinS programs. The participants of the study were 100 Grade 8 students of SBHS. the three activities used focused on Communicable Disease under the Health Education subject for Grade 8 MAPEH. The said topic was integrated in WinS program: Health Education. The researchers used survey questionnaire, the pretest-posttest design , rubric scoring , and observation were used during data gathering. A mixture of qualitative and quantitative research , descriptive, and evaluative method was used for this study. The findings of the study revealed that majority of the participants are female , top 3 hobbies and interest of the respondents are using social media such as facebook, Instagram, watching movies and TV Series , and playing online games . The participation of the students improved after the lecture thru comparing the scores of pre-test and post-test. There is a difference of 10.68 . to further show evidence of effectiveness , the mean score of the output was obtained with the scores of the output was obtained with the scores of 90.1. This shows that majority of the participants understood the lesson and instruction of the activities, In terms of level of familiarity in WinS Program, the result shows that the respondents are moderately familiar in key areas of Water , Sanitation , and Deworming and very familiar on the key area of hygiene. This suggest the effective use of the ABL for health educators in increasing learners' active participation. School Heads, MAPEH department and WinS Technical Working Group (TWG) should conduct or organize a LAC session in using ABL for WinS Programs.
