Abstract
The Philippine instruction framework is attempting to adjust to the unexpected andsignificant shift to remove getting the hang of during the Coronavirus pandemic. Departmentof Education (DepEd) deferred the kickoff of the school year and offered Self-LearningModules to learners at home. Because of this, the researcher thought of conducting this studyto help improve the problems in reading. The deserted reading comprehension of Filipinopupils is a "reality" that should be perceived by the Philippines to work on its instructiveframeworkand continue to find ways on how to improve the reading and comprehension ofFilipino learners. This research seek to determine different digital reading materials andinstruction that can help increase reading comprehension. Specifically, this study wants toknow if the digital reading materials and instruction will help enhance the readingcomprehension of Grade 5 pupils. The respondents of the study were the forty (40) strugglingreaders of Grade 5 pupils of GSIS Village Elementary School. Quasi-experimental design wereused in this study. Results shows that in terms of reading comprehension and sight wordreading, both got a significant difference. The hypothesis of no significant difference wasrejected. This is because that obtained value of computed t which is 14.68 is greater than thetabular value which is 2.02. The rejection of the null hypothesis is a clear indication that theinterventions used has significant values on the reading performance of the Grade 5 pupils. TheDepartment should provide opportunities to reading teachers for professional development bysending them in training, seminars, workshops, and symposia especially design to enhanceteacher's skills in teaching reading and uplifting the reading performance of the pupils;Teachers should develop a reading intervention program that will cater to pupils who are in the frustration and instructional levels.
