Abstract
When schools effectively implement mentorship programs, the sharing of knowledge between teachers
becomes an intrinsic characteristic that helps students, teachers, and the whole school climate. Taking this into
account, this innovation project proposal titled “Project AIDE (Assessment in Distance Education): A
Mentoring Program Utilizing International Standards for Teacher Competence in Assessing Learners"
was conceptualized to promote the assessment standards for teachers, how to accomplish the assessment
standards, and to improve the actual practice of assessment among teachers at Ponciano Bernardo High School
during the School Year 2021-2022 through School Learning Action Cell Sessions (SLACs). The proponents,
being Master Teachers of Ponciano Bernardo High School, served as mentors who provided the tcacher-mcntees
further guidance on how to successfully carry out the seven (7) international standards for teacher competence in assessing learners: (1) choosing assessment methods appropriate for instructional decisions, (2) developing
asscssment methods appropriate for instructional decisions, (3) administering, scoring, and interpreting the results

of both externally produced and teacher-produced assessment methods, (4) using assessment results when making
T decisions about individual learners, planning teaching, developing curriculum, and school improvement, (5)
developing valid learner grading proccdures which use learner assessments, (6) communicating assessment
results to learners and parents, and (7) recognizing unethical, illegal, and otherwise inappropriate assessment
methods and uses of assessment information.. The mentoring program on the standards of assessment was
implemented from January 3, 2022 until June 17, 2022. The proponents ensured that available resources were
maximized fully and engaged key stakeholders in the provision of resources useful for the successful
implementation of this innovation project.
