Abstract
This study was intended to develop creative thinking among Grade 8 learner in Science. The study involves the use of modified test instruments a two-tiered Reflective Multiple Choice Questions (RMCQs) can be utilized in developing assessment as it serves two purposes: first, the learners answer a question pertaining to knowledge statement while the second tier requires facilitates the testing of learning beyond simple recall into higher level of thinking (Haslam & Treagust, 1987) . The second tier requires written explanations reflecting on the selected answer. In this study, the learners scores and frequency of correct answers showed variety of knowledge on biology topics digestive system and phases of mitosis . The data can be used to clarify concepts during instruction instructions by modifying the teaching strategies and approaches and focus on learners' thinking and understanding . The pre-test and post test are compared to assess the changed behavior and concept development of the learners. The data can benchmark the need for a modification in teaching strategies and approaches, science curricula and mode of assessment that teachers currently use . The study respondents comprise Grade 8 Science , Technology and Engineering Program ( STEP) learners.
